I'm sure there is something snarky to say here about the state of this client in beta and Battlenet 2.0 but people should be able to draw their own conclusions. All interface changes must be supervised by a Starcraft 2 Referee or the. I found something about a Referees role on the MLG website, here are some bits of it. It is essentially an enhanced Observer player(who can only watch a game). The only annoyance I've faced is the inability to rewind replays, there is only forward motion, but even that has yet to be much of an issue. In Starcraft 2, a Referee is a player who can watch a game, talk to players (usually about rules), change game speed, pause the game or kick players. The directed spectating feature in particular is really fun, it makes it easy to throw something up to watch while grabbing a snack or relaxing in between playing. I don't have any real criticisms so far, it's been great every time I've looked through replays or watched someone live. The ability to jump in and out of games to watch while you wait for your own game is and incredible feature that I hope scales properly when more people are added to the game. When all is said and done I'm more incredibly impressed at how nice the various spectating and replay tools are so far, and it looks like there are plans to make it even better given the presence of tabs on the menu called “Learn” and “Socialize”. During The International this was tied into a webpage that you could load independently of the stream that I think really added to spectating.
The green diamond that tells if their ultimate is up, and if in cooldown how many more seconds, is a nice touch and useful for viewing.
Deceptively simple and insanely fun, Hearthstone is a fast-paced strategy card game from Blizzard.
How to spectate a starcraft 2 game Patch#
When the AI patch is out I recommend playing with the "Hard" AI, as it's the most difficult AI level that does not cheat, and yet it's still way, way more powerful than the old AI set on "Hardest". This is especially interesting as the new advanced AI introduced in The Forgotten does not cheat (expect on Hardest level), it plays on the same conditions as a human player, so you can learn a lot by watching AIs. Want to see how the AI handles a tricky situation? Delete 10 Villagers, or maybe waste resources on building 7 barracks and give the control back to the AI to see how it handles it. If the Steam version of Forgotten does not make any changes on that part, you should be able to do the same when the AI patch is coming for the Steam version. If you prefer you can just sit back and relax watching while the AI play completely on its own for you. You still have the control, so you can whenever you want move units, build or do anything else for the AI. In the original AoE 2 Forgotten (non-Steam version) you can set your own player slot to an AI, and it will play for you. So you can spectate an ai vs ai match with the update?
